The never ending story….Part Deux

Ok Ok, yes the never ending story (the movie version) did actually end but came back with a vengeance (no wait that was Die Hard). Anywho in my usual trawlings of the internet space I came across this lovely little article and accompanying public commentry on……..ab (wait for it) ………..ortion. The logical sequal to the debate on religion versus science.

I love debate and I hate it at the same time, as mentioned before I think I am such a wonderful orater that people will all of a sudden change their minds because I have seduced them with my words. When this does not happen I get mad. You get mad, how mad? you ask, I get very mad, HULK style! Mad enough that I want to mash the keyboard in frustration and rip it out of the computer and throw it at the photocopier and then kick both of them and storm out of the office and push the pot plants as I leave. I am hardcore.

Back to the story though, I know some people are pro-lifers and that’s cool with me, sure you like babies and you like foetuses so be it, but start telling me that I am anti-life and I am wrong as a pro-choicer and you need to step-off, back off and for all I care f*** off. We all have different views and just because you don’t agree with me does not mean I am wrong or you are wrong and it certainly does not mean you should find some way to legally enforce your beliefs upon me, it’s undemocratic, unfair and uncool. I am pro-choice and very much so. Abortion, creation, religion, it’s all a big value judgement landfill, come dump your crap! These issues are moral, ethical, social issues that are made with our emotions not with rationality or reason, it is unreasonable to expect it to be anything but a personal decision.

I mostly do not like pro-lifers because they think they are all high and mighty and that their way is the right and only way. I am sorry you are so deluded but you are wrong and short of calling you retarded (oops just did), you really do not understand the issue enough if you are happy to make concessions here and there for certain circumstances and cannot consider all the surrounding factors regarding abortion.

  • Pro-choice is not anti-life, we respect the right of the person to CHOOSE to keep or to abort.
  • Pro-choice do not see abortion as an alternative to contraception, if a person is irresponsible and gets pregnant should they have an abortion? No, that’s why in WA a women must undergo counselling from their medical practitioner, who hopefully at the same time would be giving them a prescription for the pill or some such.
  • Pro-Lifers are wishy washy saying that abortion is ok in cases of rape. Why? Because the women had no consent in the sexual act? Isn’t there still a life there according to your principles? Develop a backbone and take a stand its all or nothing right?
  • A foetus is not considered a person until it is born, legally. If you want to believe otherwise that is your choice.
  • Why should it be the womens choice and only the womens choice? I agree the man should have some say, maybe go to counselling with the women but ultimately the women is the one who will have to commit to 9 months of something growing inside her, kind of like tumour, its feeds off you, distorts your body, messes up your normal functions. The man also does not end up pushing that watermelon sized ball of flesh out a hole the size of a lemon.
  • If abortion were illegal, it would make the incidence of a) backyard abortions increase leading to b) greater numbers of infections and death from complications and c) neglected children who are resented because they were not wanted or are a financial burden.
  • If you wanted to stop abortions, teach kids about contraception, teach them to make informed choices. Don’t harp on to them about abstinence because we all know when you can’t have something you want it more and are more likely to try your darndest to get it and therein is the problem.
  • If society says here you have a choice, it does not mean the whole of society advocates abortion but we respect each other enough as human beings to understand that we all have our own opinions and judgements and can make our own choices without fear of being criminally tried and convicted, possibly threatened or killed by extreme pro-lifers (it happens) or shunned by society.
  • The reason issues such as this are regulated through law is because of the quagmire that it is, if abortion wasn’t regulated by the state you would have dodgy practitioners, dodgy operations, extreme pro-lifers doing extreme things and then argueing in court that it was all about protecting a life etc etc, people having abortions at a very late stage (in WA it is currently 20 weeks at the latest) becaus ethere is no legal framework or ramifications for doing it.

Mah, this issue gets me all annoyed because nobody can tell me what or what not to do (unless of course it is legislated) otherwise I do what I want.

Hudson Godfrey had the most sensible reply out of everyone and this Adz inc character cleraly has way too much time on his hands because he keeps putting his two cents in and making himself look like a arrogant fool. Notice how he is is ‘he’ only a stupid man could be so stupid.

Transition is complete…….’HULK MAD, need to smash!”
